Boston Op Angel
We are #opangel Boston. Op Angel is the ongoing evolving reaction to the persecution and death of 26 year old internet visionary and open information activist Aaron Swartz. The Boston crew has decided to undertake direct actions to have Carmen Ortiz, the United States Attorney for the district of Massachusetts, fired. Carmen Ortiz is directly responsible for the decision to pursue a politically motivated case against Aaron which for two years sapped his resources and drained his will until tragically he took his own life. Aaron deserves justice, and firing Carmen is part of that Justice.
Aaron Swartz candle lit vigil and march Sat 13 April 2013
Op Angel invites you to join us in a candle light vigil and march through Boston to remember Aaron Swartz on Saturday the 13th . We will meet at Boston common on the corner of Park and Tremont at 6:30, and march shortly after. Aaron's only crime was a determined effort to make the world a better place- and subsequently this world is a far worse one without him in it. There can never be justice for Aaron because his death was the definition of injustice. Please walk with us in silence through the streets to remember our loss and to mourn Aaron.
Aaron had a huge impact in his short life, and there can be no telling what further achievements he would have had if he had been allowed to live. The world has had a great deal stolen from it in the death of Aaron. Aaron should be remembered, and we do so with our march. The world lost a guiding light when Aaron was extinguished. We will come together and carry our candles to take up Aaron's fallen torch.
Aaron's struggle was to make this world a better more fair more open world. His life work is unfinished. As we march and mourn please remember his prosecution was due to his activism- that he in fact was silenced by our government, spearheaded by Carmen Ortiz and MIT, because they don't want a better more fair more open world. Mourn with us, and get angry. Mourn with us and get ready to take up Aaron's cause. Aaron is gone, so now it is we who must build his better more fair more open world.

Op Angel direct action at Carmen Ortiz's home and Neighborhood:
A person should not be able to go home and put their feet up after abusing the power of federal office. Carmen Ortiz's abuse of power cost Aaron Swartz his life, and today we're visiting Carmen's home and neighborhood to remind her that no matter where she is the dark stain of her prosecutorial overreach should weigh heavily upon her.
We hope to let her neighbors and local community know exactly what sort of monster they have let live in their midst, and we hope that they in turn will speak out against Mrs. Ortiz. We are here today to take away any sense of sanctuary Mrs. Ortiz has. We do not have her power to disrupt and destroy the way she did Aaron, but we will do everything we can to put her under pressure to resign and leave Massachusetts. Her actions have rendered her outside any community, and she must be ostracized.
Carmen you should have expected us.
We will post upcoming direct actions at Carmen's house when they are planned- in the meantime please get involved by printing out and putting up these posters, and by calling into Carmen's office and demanding her termination.

#OpAngel press
Press plz contact @kinetictheorist on twitter for comments because the first batch of stories about our action have both perspects- the police and Carmens unfair and totally unbalanced.
Pursuant to this story we must stress we are not associated with occupy. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/2013/03/12/swartz-case-protest-boston-attorney-home/saJzuEYKIrjoF0MM2Sxi9M/story.html The protesters from Saturday's demonstration have disregarded Carmen Ortiz's desire for privacy, and would like to kindly remind her that she is a public figure and dissent is civic virtue. She and her office failed to extend simple courtesy and decency to Aaron Swartz and perhaps our actions will help them rethink their prosecutorial decisions. Furthermore, it is not only appropriate, but our duty, to inform the citizens of Milton about the ABUSE OF POWER one of their own neighbors has perpetrated in the name of the American People. It’s interesting to note that Mrs. Ortiz is hyper concerned about the welfare of her neighbors and “young children,” yet her office zealously and maliciously targets innocents for her own career and political gain. Carmen Ortiz is DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for the death of Aaron Swartz. The world has suffered a tragic loss and we will not stop until we bring Justice to his name. Carmen Ortiz, we do not forgive, we do not forget, you should have expected us.
Open Letter from KT about today's action 3/16/13:
Open letter to the citizens of the United States,
I am in Milton Ma to take the FBI, US Marshalls, and Milton PD up on their offer to arrest me on sight despite the fact I have broken no laws. I am here to spread information about Aaron's Law, and to apply pressure to the system in order to have Carmen Ortiz removed from her office. Every day Carmen works is a slap in the face of the constitution, justice, and everything fair or right in this world. It has become increasingly clear that the prosecution of Aaron Swartz actually broke laws- meaning the only criminals involved at this point are Carmen and her office (not me and not Aaron).
My civil rights have already been infringed upon by the Milton police, and if I am arrested today that arrest will be a false arrest and further infringement of my civil rights. Carmen has stated that we should protest at “appropriate places”- meaning at her work which we do every other Monday but this is America and last I heard it is an appropriate place in its entirety for free speech and free assembly. In her office as the Attorney for the District of Massachusetts Carmen should have at least read far enough into the bill of rights to get through the first amendment. We are peaceful nonviolent protesters who have every right to protest outside a public figure's (which Ortiz is) home. Where was her consideration for a private citizens privacy when she had Aaron raided and hounded for years? Carmen please.
I am a citizen of Massachusetts and as such Carmen is supposed to represent me and my interests, and in this regard she has failed. It was not in my interest to silence a visionary activist who strove to make this world better. It was not in my interest for Carmen to cut a sweetheart deal with Chelsea Housing Authority thief Michael MacLaughlin (who stole hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars from the poor and elderly). It was not in my interest for Carmen to attempt to erode rights of ownership by trying to cease Caswell Motel- a privately owned business. Carmen Ortiz serves only her own political ambition to the detriment of society.
If I am arrested today for voicing my opinion peacefully and legally I am a political prisoner. I will not be intimidated out of my constitutional rights. We cannot in good faith call our society free if free speech is met with false arrest, when activists- like Aaron- are targeted for prosecutorial abuse, and while someone as clearly criminal as Carmen Ortiz faces no penalty for her actions. Carmen is the local face of an overall problem- your state likely has an attorney like Carmen who will sooner throw the book at an activist than question a political sector toad or a corporate criminal. I strongly encourage everyone out there to step up and question those who rule in your name but serve their own purposes without regard to your interests. Today it's me here in Milton standing up to Carmen and the Police, FBI, and US Marshalls intimidation- tomorrow I hope it's you everywhere standing up to a system designed to disenfranchise and impoverish you.
Be Well,
KT, @kinetictheorist
